Product Flaw in Symantec's Norton Antivirus Software?

Thursday, September 01, 2005

Recent news today suggests that Antivirus software giant Symantec is investigating a report that their Antivirus Corporate Edition 9.0 has a security flaw in it. Apparently the username and password is stored in a plain text file in a fixed location on the hard drive that is accessible by any user.

What does this information mean for home users of symantec's norton antivirus versions for home users?

It means absolutely nothing at all ;) ... Well, I should say that it does not mean your version of the software has this security flaw in it but I will check into this to see if the same flaw exists in all their versions.

If you feel unsafe using symantec's norton antivirus products hearing about these security flaws you have a few very good alternatives out there. Some, I would say, are superior products to the norton one. Check out our other software categories on the site to read about a few others.
