McAfee to unveil products to 'clean' up the net

Security Software giant McAfee announced recently that they are planning to release a new security product in the first half of 2006. This new software will be based on a new stategy they have developed called "Clean Pipes". McAfee's new security product will work on the ISP and carrier level meaning users will benefit from its malware filtering without having to install anything on their local machines.

This new top level approach to malware blocking should reduce the number of attacks that reach individual users machines but I seriously doubt that it will be able to block ALL attacks as there is currently no solution out there that can.

My advice is to use multiple security measures to help protect yourself. By this I mean if you have mcafee antivirus installed on your machine currently add AVG antivirus as well. If one antivirus solution protecting you is good then two is even better. Be carefull in your selections though as some antivirus software will not run together on the same machine.

When this new McAfee product is released I would suggest anyone using the desktop version of McAfee antivirus and whos ISP uses the new McAfee product should remove there desktop version and replace it with another companies offering. If you are protected by the McAfee ISP level service having the local software will be redundant as they will undoubtedly filter the exact same malware.
